Obregon and Garcia Honored with SUNS Award

Concluding the 2016-2017 academic year, the Cedar Valley College Athletic Department has selected Tiffany Obregon and Alex Garcia as this year's recipients of the SUNS Award.

Each year one female and one male student-athlete are selected as the SUNS Award recipient as voted on by the CVC Athletic Department. This designation goes to the student-athletes that best exemplifies outstanding efforts in academics, athletics, and community service, all while upholding the mission of the CVC Athletic Department.

Tiffany Obregon (Dallas, TX), played and started in 14 matches this year, tallying two goals and one assist. Obregon was 1-1 in penalty kicks during the season and notched .367% shots on goal percentage. Obregon also earned All-Metro Athletic Conference First Team honors and will earn her Associates of Science this spring.

Alex Garcia (Grand Prairie, TX), registered a hitting percentage of .406% for the Suns Baseball Team this season, with an on-base percentage of .463% and a slugging percentage of .594%. From the mound, Garcia went 4-5, totaling 49 strikeouts. He will be graduating with an Associate of Science this spring.
