Suns' Baseball Season Ends with District C Tourney Exit

The CVC Baseball Team's season came to an end over the weekend after being eliminated from the NJCAA District C Tournament after losses against the Eastfield Harvesters and Coastal Bend Cougars. The Suns finished the year with a record-breaking 37 wins.

On day one of the tournament, CVC had their comeback fall short, after losing to Eastfield, 10-9. The Suns trailed early after a 6-0 deficit in the first inning but were able to pull within one run in the final inning

J.J. Veloz Jr. led the team with three runs, while Tylor Frailey went 3-5 on the day registering three RBIs. Jorge Palomo also chipped in two runs.

Game two on Friday, Coastal Bend defeated Cedar Valley, 5-3. CC scored all of their runs in the third inning as they held off CVC's offense for the rest of the game.

Alex Rivera went 3-3 at the plate, with two runs. Jesse Mendoza notched three RBIs.

Despite not punching a ticket to the NJCAA Division III World Series, Head Coach Robert Dally is very proud of this year's team, especially the sophomores.

"This year was a season to commemorate. Although we came up short of our overall goal, we gave it a ride. I am very proud and privileged to have coached this group of young men and am humbled by this game we love so much. This year's sophomores did a great job leading our team back to the post season and breaking our school's baseball record going 37-16." - Robert Dally
