Baseball Trips up Blazers to Win Series

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team beat Dallas College North Lake for the second straight day, winning 7-1 at home Friday.

The win secured the series for the Suns in the first week of Dallas Athletic Conference action, with Game 3 scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Valley. The Suns improved to 7-3 overall, 2-0 in the DAC. North Lake fell to 5-11, 0-2.

Cedar Valley scored four runs in the second inning to take a lead it would not relinquish. The Suns added a run in the third to make it 5-0. They extended the lead to 6-0 in the fifth. After the Blazers picked up a run in the top of the eighth, the Suns answered with one of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

Cedar Valley's Caden Robertson collected three hits, including a double, and scored twice. Matthew Marsic was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Antonio Sabala went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Ryan Talley had a hit, a walk, drove in two runs and scored once. Jayden Ramos was 1-for-2 with an RBI, a run and two sacrifice flies. Elian Gonzales drove in a run, and had two sac flies. Blaine Thomas was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run.

The Suns' offense produced 10 hits, marking the second game in as many days they've had at least that many. They had 12 in Thursday's game at North Lake.

Samuel Massi pitched the first four innings, allowing three hits, no runs and three walks, while striking out two. Connor Donathan (1-1) worked the final five innings, giving up three hits, an unearned run and no walks, while fanning four.
