Suns Knock Off No. 1 Eastfield in 10 Innings

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team knocked off preseason No. 1 nationally-ranked Dallas College Eastfield, 9-8, in 10 innings Wednesday to open a three-game Dallas Athletic Conference series.

The Suns (12-5, 5-2 DAC) moved into a tie for first place with the Harvester Bees (15-7, 5-2) in the league. Dallas College Richland also shares a 5-2 conference record.

The next two games of the series shifts to Mesquite, where the Harvester Bees will host Friday and Saturday's games at noon both days.

Cedar Valley got out to a 7-5 lead after two innings before Eastfield scored twice in the third and once in the fourth to take an 8-7 lead. The Suns tied it in the bottom of the fifth before both team's bullpens took over the game in the middle and late innings. Cedar Valley's pitchers didn't allow a run after the fourth inning, while Eastfield's bullpen put up four straight 0s on the scoreboard in the sixth through ninth innings.

The Suns, who were outhit, 14-10, scratched out the gamewinning run in the bottom of the 10th.

Cedar Valley middle reliever Landon Kinder didn't allow a run, and scattered six hits and one walk over five innings, while fanning five to silence the Harvesters' offense after the Bees picked up their eighth run. Caleb Pacheco (4-0) worked the last inning without a blemish, while striking out one batter to pick up the win.

Caden Robertson led Cedar Valley's hit parade with a home run, a triple and three RBI. Daniel Brandon III had a double, and drove in three runs, while going 2-for-4. Jayden Ramos was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Cooper Brewer had two hits in four trips to the plate. Antonio Sabala and Matthew Marsic both doubled. Marsic drove in a run, and Sabala had a stolen base.

Eastfield's Angel Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Manny Moore was 2-for-5 with a walk. Jayden Morgan homered and drove in two runs. River Curs was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
