Baseball Doubles Up Arlington Baptist Again

FORT WORTH, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team swept its second straight doubleheader in as many days at Arlington Baptist University Tuesday, winning 12-0 in six innings and 5-1 in seven.

The Suns won their fourth doubleheader of the season, improving to 16-7.

In Game 1, Cedar Valley starter Caleb Pacheco (5-1) went five innings, allowing three hits, no runs and two walks, and struck out three to secure the victory. Connor Donathan pitched a perfect sixth inning.

The Suns pounded 14 hits, including two each by Caden Robertson, Daniel Brandon III, Jayden Ramos, Cesar Mora, Cooper Brewer and Jaquavius Davis. Mora doubled and drove in three runs. Davis had a home run and two RBI. Brewer had a pair of RBI, while Brandon III and Ramos each had one. Robertson and Brandon III each had a stolen base.

Cedar Valley scored in every inning but the fourth, putting up five runs in the sixth to put the game away.

It was the Suns' first shutout of the season.

In Game 2, Cedar Valley got out to a three-run lead before Arlington Baptist picked up a run in the bottom of the third. The Suns scored two more in the fourth, and Antonio Sabala went the distance on the mound for his first victory of the year.

Sabala struck out 14 batters, and allowed five hits, a run and two walks in the win.

Davis went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Robertson had a two-run home run. Brewer doubled in three at-bats. Zachary Mikes and Samuel Massi also had a hit.

The Suns are off for the rest of the week, and will play at Hill College 1 p.m. Monday.
