Suns Win Another Thriller with Lions

LANCASTER, Texas – Talk about living on the edge.

For the second straight game, Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team pulled out a last-inning comeback victory over Dallas College Mountain View, winning 9-8 in 11 innings Friday. The Suns were coming off an 18-17 win over the Lions in Wednesday's series opener.

It was Cedar Valley's fifth one-run victory of the season.

Game 3 of the Dallas Athletic Conference series is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Valley.

Mountain View led 8-7 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, but Cedar Valley scored in the bottom half of the inning to send the game into extra innings. The Suns (29-12, 13-7 DAC) won it two innings later.

Caden Robertson went 4-for-5 with a home run, two stolen bases and two walks. It was his 13th home run of the season, which ranks second in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III.

Ryan Talley was 4-for-5 with a double and two runs batted in. Antonio Sabala was 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and four walks. Elian Gonzales went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three walks. Daniel Brandon III had two hits, including a double, drove in a run and walked in five plate appearances. Cooper Brewer was 2-for-6 with an RBI. Jayden Ramos had two hits, including a double, and walked in six plate appearances.

Reliever Landon Kinder picked up his second win of the season, allowing five hits, two runs and no walks, while striking out four in five innings of work. He took over for starter Blaine Thomas, who allowed six runs, only two of which were earned, five hits and two walks, and struck out five over the first six innings.

The Suns finished with 21 hits, marking the fourth time this season, including the second straight game, they've produced that many. They matched a season high with 23 hits Wednesday.

Cedar Valley matched a season high with 13 walks. They have had 10 or more free passes in six games.
