Suns Basketball Inks Blunson, Johnson, and Pedeford

The CVC Men's Basketball Team, announced the signing of three more student-athletes, who will compete for the Suns in the coming 2016-2017 season.

The 2015-2016 Metro Athletic Conference Tournament Semi-Finalists added point guard Amariye Blunson (La Vega High School/Waco), swing man Josh Johnson (Lancaster High School), and forward Kaelon Pedford (Forney High School).

Amariye Blunson, a 5-10 point guard from Waco, Texas helped lead the La Vega Pirates to back-to-back district titles, while also excelling in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society. Blunson was also named the 2016 District 17-4A Most Valuable Player averaging 18.3 points per game and will be looked upon to take minutes left behind by departing All-Metro Athletic Conference selection Jordan Evans.

On Blunson: "I'm very excited about this young man becoming a SUNS family member. This young man has the potential to have an impact in our program immediately. He brings a certain dynamic to the program that could pay huge dividends. We are extremely excited to have him." - Head Coach Cedric Jones

Josh Johnson, graduated from Lancaster High School in 2015, where he was a member of back-to-back UIL 5A state championship Tiger teams. Johnson played an integral part for his team, as he helped them to finish with a 32-4 record on their way to their state championship.

On Johnson: "His championship pedigree will bode well for our basketball team. Coming from a program like Lancaster High School, his experiences will help us get the next level and take this program to new heights." "We are looking to Josh to bring that championship DNA to CVC. I'm extremely excited to have him in our program, he's going to do great things for us." At 6'4 he could possibly be a match up nightmare. He has great skills from the perimeter and within the paint" - Head Coach Cedric Jones

Kaelon Pedford, the big man was a regular presence in the middle for Forney High School and will be able to make an immediate impact as he helps to fill the void left by sophomores All-Metro Athletic Conference selection KeAunte Humber and Adrian Palacios.

On Pedford: "We are extremely excited to have Kaelon in the SUNS family, his size, strength and leaping ability will help tremendously in the upcoming season. We will look to him to provide some scoring inside the paint." - Head Coach Cedric Jones
