Suns Trip up Lions for First League Win

Dallas College Mountain View for its first Dallas Athletic Conference win this season.

Brass, a sophomore guard from Grand Prairie, Texas, went 10 of 15 from the field, and buried 7 of 11 three-point field goals off the bench as the Suns put together a big second half to pull away.

Cedar Valley (10-11, 1-2 DAC) improved to 7-2 at home this season. Mountain View fell to 14-7 overall, 0-3 in the league.

The Suns trailed, 40-39, at halftime, but outscored the Lions, 58-48, after the break to win going away.

Cedar Valley's Kishon Kittrell had 19 points on 7 of 10 field goal and 5 of 5 free throw shooting, four rebounds and a steal. Antonio Freeman had 18 points, going 5 of 7 from the floor and 7 of 8 from the stripe. Alonnie Carter had nine points, nine assists, seven boards and two steals. Malik Conley finished with seven points, 10 rebounds and a steal.

The Suns shot 47 percent from the field, and outrebounded Mountain View, 39-30.

Justice Marmara had 22 points, six rebounds and three assists, and Farai Mandhlazi added 18 points and five boards for the Lions, who shot 48 percent.

Cedar Valley is scheduled to host Dallas College North Lake 6 p.m. Wednesday.
