Sisk Sizzles for 42 as Cedar Valley Picks up First DAC Win

LANCASTER, Texas – What a birthday gift.

Antonio Sisk scored a career-high 42 points, propelling Dallas College Cedar Valley's men's basketball team to a 104-90 home win over Dallas College Mountain View Saturday. Sisk also celebrated his birthday Saturday.

"He told me before the game, 'Coach, we're going to win, and I'm going to score 40,'" Suns head coach Roy Gregory said. "I told him, 'You can score as many as you want.'"

It was the Suns' first Dallas Athletic Conference victory of the season.

Sisk connected on 16 of 28 field goals, and went 7-for-10 at the free throw line. It was the third straight game he's scored 30 or more. A sophomore guard from Dallas, Sisk also had a career-best eight steals, and grabbed five rebounds. His 16 field goals also were a career high, and marked the third consecutive game he's had 11 or more.

Suns freshman guard Braylon Crosby scored 27 points on 8 of 14 shooting. He was 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Freshman forward Charlie Gutierrez had 14 points, and Malik Conley 10 points and three steals. Gutierrez hit six of 11 field goals. Conley was 4 of 6 from the floor. Both pulled down four rebounds. Sophomore forward Jude Donovan had seven points, 11 boards and a block. Freshman center Armani Reese had eight boards and five blocks to match a season high. It was the second straight game he's blocked five shots, and the fifth time this season he's rejected that many. 

Cedar Valley (8-13, 1-4 DAC) shot 52 percent from the floor and 50 percent from long range. The Suns were 37 of 71 from the field, including 6 of 12 beyond the 3-point line. They sank 24 of 28 free throws for 85.7 percent. Mountain View (13-11, 0-5) knocked down 30 of 69 field goals for 43. 5 percent. The Lions were 9 of 24 from 3-point distance and 21-for-29 at the free throw stripe.

The Suns led by four at halftime, and outscored the Lions, 60-50, in the second half.

Mountain View's Xavier Peyton had a season-high 31 points on 10 of 18 shooting. He was 7 of 10 from beyond the arc, matching a season best in triples. Joshua Smith added 23 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. He was 7 of 11 from the floor and 9-for-11 at the free throw line. Louis Conner finished with nine points and 10 assists, and Doviyon Bradford eight points, six assists, five boards and three steals.  

Cedar Valley outrebounded Mountain View, 34-28.

The Suns will begin the second half of conference play 1 p.m. next Saturday at home against Dallas Brookhaven.
