IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Chris Vela was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-foot freshman guard from Corpus Christi, Texas, Vela scored a season-high 30 points, while knocking down seven triples in a win over No. 15 Dallas College North Lake. He was 10 of 15 shooting, while sinking all three free throws.

Vela, who is averaging 7.5 points and shooting 77 percent from the free throw line, has scored in double figures in his last two games – his highest point totals of the season.

Cedar Valley (10-13, 4-7 DAC) will play at No. 11 Dallas College Richland (17-8, 9-2) at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Suns' final home game is 1 p.m. Saturday against Dallas College Brookhaven.
