Men’s Soccer Ready to Shine in Return to CVC

Men’s Soccer Ready to Shine in Return to CVC
It has been exactly a decade since Cedar Valley College competed in Men's Soccer, but that's all going to change on Wednesday, August 29 when the program makes its official return to the pitch for NJCAA play against Southwestern Adventist University.

Director of Athletics Krasi Kolarov, former CVC Men's Senior Head Coach, has expressed his excitement for the return of Men's Soccer at CVC. "I'm very excited and this is a great moment for CVC Athletics," said Kolarov. "Opening a new program always gives student-athletes more opportunities to continue their education and playing careers."

2005 through 2008 was the last time Cedar Valley fielded a Men's Soccer Team and during that time, the Suns regularly competed for the Metro Athletic Conference Championship (now Dallas Athletic Conference) and Juan Gutierrez was named an NJCAA All-American.

Heading the rebirthed Suns Soccer Team will be Nasko Arsov, who is also splitting time as the Lady Suns Soccer Senior Head Coach. Coach Arsov knows that this season will be a year of building for the future, but he expects his squad to go out and compete every game.

Players to keep your eyes on include Southwestern Assemblies of God transfer Diego Villanueva (GK), Yair Gonzalez (Ferris HS/Ferris, TX), Patrice Mbezele, Julien Melingui (Lancaster HS/Lancaster, TX), and Cristian Ramirez (Ferris HS/Ferris, TX).
