LANCASTER, Texas -- Dallas College Cedar Valley's men's and women's soccer teams held a free clinic for youths from the DeSoto Soccer Association last Thursday.

Youths ages 4-12 participated in the clinic, along with players from the Suns men's and women's teams, at the Cedar Valley soccer field. Suns players taught the DeSoto soccer youths skills, and played side games with them.

"The kids had fun. They enjoyed our players, and getting to know them on a first-name basis," Cedar Valley men's soccer coach Nasko Arsov said. "Our players were happy to give back to the community."

Youths were paired with Suns players throughout the clinic. About 25 student-athletes from the Cedar Valley men's and women's teams provided the instruction.

"The DeSoto Soccer Association kids clinic was fantastic," Cedar Valley women's soccer coach John Antonisse said. "The kids learned some basic skills, did a great job, worked hard, and had a lot of fun in the process. Our players' input and help with the various age groups was extremely valuable. We love to give back to the community, and it's always very rewarding."

It was the second clinic the Suns soccer teams held this year. They also hosted a clinic for the Lancaster Recreation Department in the fall.

"It was a great experience for both our student-athletes and the young athletes at DeSoto Soccer Association," Cedar Valley Athletic Director Krasi Kolarov said.
