Women's Basketball Wins Big in Final Home Game

Dallas College Cedar Valley's Shandrea Yeldell scored 24 points in Monday's 86-55 win over Southwestern Adventist University at home.

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's women's basketball team won its final home game of the season Monday, beating Southwestern Adventist University, 86-55.

The Suns, who entered the week No. 7 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, outscored Southwestern Adventist in every quarter, including a 25-7 differential in the fourth period to win comfortably.

Cedar Valley (15-4) led 35-28 at halftime.

Three players scored in double figures for the Suns, who shot 46 percent from the field. Shandrea Yeldell had 24 points, five assists and two steals. She was 10 of 15 from the floor, and 4 of 8 from three-point range. Tiffani Hamm had 16 points, 10 rebounds and a block. She shot 5 of 10 from the field and 6 of 7 at the free throw line. Nakia Brumley scored 11 points, and had four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Hamm's 10 rebounds matched her season high, which she's reached in three games. It was her first double-double of the season.

Sierra Headquist finished with nine points, nine boards and five steals. Kate Valle had nine points and four steals. She was 4 of 7 shooting. Shaniaa Davison scored seven points.

Cedar Valley will finish the regular season 6 p.m. Tuesday at Jarvis Christian University Junior Varsity.
