Suns Win Third Straight, Host Western Texas College Saturday

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's ninth-ranked women's basketball team blew out Arlington Baptist University's Red Team, 96-63, Thursday on a day two Suns scored 25 points.

It was the third straight win for the Suns, who shot 54.7 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three-point range. Arlington Baptist Red has dropped seven in a row after winning its opener.

Starting guard Deja Thomas had 26 points, 13 assists and nine steals, while shooting 10 of 14 from the field and 5 of 7 from long distance. Forward Precious Jackson-Sanders had 25 points, 20 rebounds, two steals and a block, and hit 9 of 14 field goals and 7 of 11 free throws off the bench.

It was the second straight 20-point double-double for Jackson-Sanders, who reached 25 points in both of those games.

It was also the second straight game the Suns (7-4) shot at least 50 percent from the field and the three-point line in the same game. It was also the second straight game Cedar Valley recorded over 20 assists.

Taylor Elam finished with 17 points, six boards and a steal, knocking down six of 10 field goals. Nekayla Williams had 10 rebounds, including four of the Suns' 26 offensive boards, and added seven points, two steals and a block.

Cedar Valley hosts Western Texas College 2 p.m. Saturday before closing the semester with a home game against Jacksonville College 6 p.m. Tuesday.
