No. 9 Women's Basketball Resumes Play Tuesday at Home

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley women's basketball team will restart play Tuesday to begin the second half of the season.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III ninth-ranked Suns (8-5) host Southwestern Assemblies of God University Junior Varsity 6 p.m. Tuesday. It is one of two home games in January for Cedar Valley, which is coming off a 65-58 home win over NJCAA Division II Jacksonville College prior to the holiday break.

The Suns will make a trip to Jacksonville Monday to complete the home-and-home series this season with the Jaguars.

Cedar Valley will open Dallas Athletic Conference play Thursday, Jan. 25 at No. 12 Dallas College Mountain View. It is the first of four DAC games on the Suns' schedule.

Four Suns players are averaging in double figures, including sophomore guards Mia Thomas (15.2) and Carmela Hayden (15.0). Freshman forward Precious Jackson-Sanders (11.3) and sophomore point guard Deja Thomas (11.2) are also double-digit scorers. Jackson-Sanders is pulling down a team-leading 8.2 rebounds per game, while sophomore forward Nekayla Williams is grabbing 6.3, and sophomore forward/center Taylor Elam 4.7. Deja Thomas is averaging 5.8 steals and 4.9 assists. Mia Thomas is averaging 2.3 steals per game.

The Suns are 4-1 at home this season.
