Thomas Named Final DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Mia Thomas was named the final Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

It is the second time this season Thomas has received the honor.

A 5-6 sophomore guard from Houston, Thomas averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and three steals per game, while shooting 57 percent from the floor as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 7 nationally-ranked Suns went 3-0 last week. She scored in double figures in all three wins.

Thomas matched her career-high with 26 points on 9 of 14 shooting, including 6 of 10 from the 3-point line, and had seven rebounds and three steals in a 71-58 win at NJCAA Division I Jacksonville College. In the first of two wins over Dallas College Richland, she had 15 points on 7 of 12 shooting, six assists, five rebounds and four steals. She scored 11 points, had four rebounds and two steals, and hit 2 of 3 three-pointers in the second win over Richland on the road.

Thomas is averaging 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

Cedar Valley (16-5) will play at Joliet Junior College (14-15) in the NJCAA Division III Central District championship 5 p.m. Friday.
