Lady Suns Shutout at NCTC Invitational

The CVC Lady Suns Volleyball Team were shutout at the North Central Texas College Invitational Tournament over the weekend in Gainsville, TX. Cedar Valley was defeated by host NCTC, Brookhaven, Trinity Valley CC, and Wharton County JC.

To open the tournament, the Lady Suns were defeated by Trinity Valley in straight sets (21-25,22-25,17-25). Team- highs for CVC included Mallorie Brooks with eight kills, Miranda Solis with 17 assists, and Sarah Carrola turning in a 15 dig performance.

Closing day one, NCTC bested Cedar Valley in four sets (25-19,16-25,12-25,17-25). Cali Odom and Solis had team-highs for CVC with nine kills and 27 assists, respectively, while Brenda Duran and Brooks each added 15 digs.

Opening day two, CVC was edged in five sets by Metro Athletic Conference foe, Brookhaven College (25-22,25-20,14-25,20-25,13- 15). Brooks and Duran led the Lady Suns with 12 kills each, Solis registered 39 assists, and Carrola chipped in 32 digs.    

Wrapping up the tournament, Wharton County swept Cedar Valley in straight sets (18-25,24-26,17-25). Makayla Brisco had eight kills, Solis had 18 assists, and Carrola notched 26 digs.

The Lady Suns continue non-conference action when they visit Navarro College on Wednesday night.
