Lady Suns will Face Richland in Sophomore Night Regular Season Finale
The CVC Volleyball Team will pay tribute to their sophomores this Monday, when they host the Richland Thunderducks at 7:00 p.m. on October 23. The Lady Suns will honor Makayla Brisco, Brenda Duran, Cali Odom, and Christian Wilson.
Going into this match-up, CVC improved to 4-5 in Metro Athletic Conference play after defeating Mountain View, 3-1. In the victory, Mallorie Brooks led the charge with 17 kills and 15 digs.
In their last meeting with Richland, Cedar Valley was edged 3-2. Cali Odom notched a game-high 13 kills, while Korina Dominquez dished out a game-high 32 assists.
*Shining Sophomores*
Makayla Brisco - Borger, TX
Makayla made an immediate impact since stepping on the campus of Cedar Valley, being named to the 2016 All-Metro Athletic Conference/Region V Honorable Mention list. So far this season Brisco has improved her averages in hitting percentage and digs per set.
Brenda Duran - Del Rio, TX
In her first season at CVC, Duran led the Lady Suns in kills, digs, points and hitting percentage before being named to the All-MAC/All-Region V 2nd Team. Brenda's high level of play has continued this season with five double-doubles and currently leading the team in matches and sets played and service aces with 22.
Cali Odom - Minneapolis, MN
Odom has been a constant force for the Lady Suns, with her scoring and blocking expertise leading her to 2016 All-Metro Athletic Conference/Region V Second Team honors in her freshman season. This season, Cali has improved in every major statistic and leads CVC in all blocking categories.
Christian Wilson - Dickinson, TX
Wilson's presence and efforts have been integral to the improvement of the Lady Suns program. Christian along with her teammates, will have left an imprint at CVC. Wilson has dished out a career high five service aces this season and 106 digs.
