Volleyball Falls to Coastal Bend and Vernon in Tri-Match
Despite pushing each opponent in their season opening tri-match to the fifth and final set, the Lady Suns were defeated by the Coastal Bend Cougars (25-20,21-25,16-25,25-21,13-15) and the Vernon Chaps (23-25,25-19,19-25,25-20,15-17) on Wednesday afternoon.
In the game one loss to Coastal Bend, Mallorie Brooks earned a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs, while Samantha Hernandez posted 43 assists. Amaya Saenz also had a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, with Alexys Grafton chipping in 12 digs.
After being edged by Vernon in game two, Brooks logged her second double-double of the day with 14 kills and 15 digs. Grafton notched 16 digs, with Saenz and Jasmine Davis adding 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Hernandez had 46 assists.
CVC returns to action on Saturday, when they compete at the Howard Payne Round Robin.
