Willis Named Suns Head Volleyball Coach

Courtney Willis was hired as Dallas College Cedar Valley's volleyball coach in July 2023.

Courtney Willis was named Dallas College Cedar Valley's head volleyball coach in June 2023.

"Courtney will be a great asset to the Cedar Valley program, as she is very energetic with many fresh ideas," Cedar Valley Athletic Director Krasi Kolarov said. "I believe she will continue the success for our student-athletes."

Willis served as a volunteer assistant volleyball coach at Texas Southern University in 2022-23, while also helping out with the women's track & field program. The Tigers' volleyball team finished fifth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference with a 9-7 league record. The women's track & field team finished third at the SWAC Indoor Championships and fifth in the SWAC Outdoor Championships.

In 2022, she had a brief stint as Holy Patriot University's head volleyball coach. In 2021-22, she was a graduate assistant volleyball coach at East Texas Baptist University, whose program went 14-11 overall and 11-7 in the American Southwest Conference. Willis also was a grad assistant with ETBU's track & field program.

While at ETBU, she coached the East Texas Juniors Volleyball Club 16-Under team in the spring of 2022. Prior to college, she began coaching volleyball in summer camps and YMCA programs in Houston from 2015-19.

Willis played one season of volleyball at Oklahoma Baptist University in 2017. She transferred to Lamar University in 2018, where she competed on the track & field team, earning Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll honors.

Willis earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences from Lamar University in 2021. She earned a Master of Science in kinesiology from ETBU in May 2023.

"I am so thankful to God, AD Kolarov and the Dallas College Cedar Valley family for this amazing opportunity," Willis said. "I look forward to redeveloping this program and its culture, fostering a new atmosphere of exciting and strong competition that will hopefully spark further engagement and support of the community moving forward. This program has such a rich history of success from years prior, and it is my mission to get us back to that prestigious level of championship contention."
