Pre/Post Game Basketball at Cedar Valley College: Week of Jan.19-Jan.25

POST-GAME SUNS

On Wednesday night Jan. 15. 2020- the SUNS took on the Bears of Brookhaven College.  The game was a close contest throughout.  No lead was larger than eight points by either squad.  The SUNS prevailed with a score of 78-76.  The team was led by Austin Davi's 16 points and 8 rebound performance, followed by Larry Rusk Jr.'s 15 points while dishing out 8 assist.  Antwonie Betters chipped in with 10 points, 5 rebounds.  Donovan Ray had 9 points, 10 rebounds.

On Saturday Jan. 18, 2020- the Cedar Valley College Suns took on the Lions of Mountain View College on our home floor.  There was a lot of action during this highly contested basketball game.  After trailing 44-48 at halftime, the SUNS rallied in the second half to pull away with a 95-89 victory.  The SUNS had 5 players in double figures led by Donovan Ray's 26 points, Larry Rusk followed with 16 points and 10 assist.  After being held scoreless in the first half, Dezmon Cook sparked a rally where he scored 12 straight points to put Mountain View on their heels for the rest of the game.  Amande Uchime and Steven Kimberling followed with 10 points each.  Austin Davis had 6 points and 10 rebounds.  This victory moves the SUNS to 12-10 on the season and 2-1 in conference.  

 

PRE-GAME SUNS

Next up for the SUNS will be the North Lake College Bears at North Lake College this Wednesday, January 22, at 6pm. This game will mark the SUN'S fourth game within the Dallas Athletic Conference and the first time the SUNS play the Bears this season. Both teams are scheduled to play against each other again next month in February.

Later this week, the SUNS will continue their conference with a home game. On Saturday, the CVC SUNS will play the Richland College Thunderducks at 1PM. This will be the first time the SUNS play against the Thunderducks this season since their scrimmage back in October.

 

 

POST-GAME LADY SUNS

On Wednesday night Jan. 15. 2020- the Lady SUNS headed over to Mountainview College to play the Lady Lions. It was the second time the teams faced off this season. The Lady SUNS won the first game back in November, scoring 60-46. Last week, the Lady SUNS claimed another victory against the Lady Lions. Fellow Lady SUNS player, Alana Rusk helped score 26 points toward the winning game.Though, both teams scored considerably higher than last time, the Lady SUNS managed to out-do their last victory, 77-61.

On Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020- the Lady SUNS did it all over again as the CVC Lady SUNS played the Richland College Lady Thunderducks for the second time this season. Back in December, the Lady SUNS scored nearly twice as many points as the Lady Thunderducks, beating them 70-41. This past weekend, the Lady SUNS won by a long shot once again withAlana Rusk making another major impact, scoring 22 points for CVC. This time, the Lady SUNS beat the Lady Thunderducks 75-59.

 

PRE-GAME LADY SUNS

So far, the Lady SUNS are leading the Dallas Athletic Conference 4-0! This Saturday, Jan. 25- the Lady SUNS will play their third game within the DAC. CVC Lady SUNS will play against the Mountain View College Lady Lions for the third time this season. This will be a home game held at the CVC gym at 11AM.
