Goalie’s Goals: After Achieving Academic Accomplishments, Alexander Aims At Ascending Again

Though, the Suns have shined in brighter skies, it's during these uncertain times that we can truly appreciate one certainty the Cedar Valley Suns have maintained at Dallas College- SUCCESS! Uplifting our spirits once again, another one of our fellow Suns is reminding us of the solar power strength that sustains the Suns, no matter what storm we're weathering. CVC is BEYOND PROUD to announce, that Nautica Alexander of the Lady Suns Soccer team, has been accepted into a four-year institution… ***AND offered a scholarship!***

Indeed- this Lady Sun scored stellar points from goals to grades. The women's soccer team could always count on their guardian Alexander to watch over their goal. The team's confidence was rightfully earned by their Goalie, as Alexander showed up and showed out for all ten of their games, ultimately scoring 49 saves throughout the 2019 season.

Aside from saves, Alexander was also known for her scholastic scores and as her grade points accumulated, so did her GPA. Before long, her name began appearing on the short lists for honorable mentions and awards. Her grades alone, caught the attention of the institution and landed her a spot on the Commissioner's List, reserved for CVC students with competitive GPAs between 3.25-3.49. However, student athletes are held to even higher standards when considered for athletic academic awards. Subsequently, they must be strong both academically and athletically to even gain entrance into the large pool of competitive candidates. Then- only those that manage to stand out within such a large pool of standouts, actually snag an athletic academic award. So, when the National Junior College Athletic Association announces their very selective picks for Region V, it's always a great honor to spot   a CVC Sun. Alexander was selected along with just two other teammates to join the 2ND All-Conference Team. Such accomplishments have opened doors to other opportunities for Alexander and her hard work is really paying off.

Many new endeavors now await this Lady Sun on horizon. After earning an Associate of Science degree with CVC, she is prepared to take the next step in her college career. This Fall, Alexander will be transferring to Bacone College of Muskogee, Oklahoma, on path to continue pursuing the degree she needs to land her dream job. Once she finishes earning a Bachelor of Science in Exerciseshe plans to launch a rewarding career in the medical field as an occupational therapist. Until then, Alexander will continue her education as a Lady Warrior her junior year, joining Bacone College's 2020-2021 women's soccer team as their new Goalie.
