Cedar Valley Tops DAC in NJCAA All-Academic Honors

NJCAA ALL-ACADEMIC

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley student-athletes led the Dallas Athletic Conference with 35 National Junior College Athletic Association All-Academic awards during the 2024-25 academic year.

Eight Suns student-athletes received First Team All-Academic honors. Eleven student-athletes earned Second Team All-Academic recognition. Sixteen more collected Third Team All-Academic distinction.

Baseball's Lane Atherton, Carson Daniels, Drake McIver, William Messner, Lyncoln Schaeffer and Dawson Snow were named First Team All-Academic, along with men's basketball's Jameer Battle and women's soccer's Mariah Macias.

Baseball's Avery Dubose, Jovan Bernal, David Chandler, Johnny Garcia, Joshua Lile, Caden Nachtigall, Billy Rios IV and Elyjah Anderson and women's soccer's Bethany Lumbreras, Victory Oyoyo Peter and Olivia Reyna received Second Team All-Academic honors.

Baseball's Nathan Tucker, Christian Alcala, Blake Brown, Joshawa Esquivel, Elandis Taylor, Ty Willingham, Addison Brown, Julio Cuotto and AJ Tapia joined men's basketball's Kendall Mitchell and Faheem Baghezza, men's soccer's Raul Ortiz, women's soccer's Guadalupe Hernandez, Melinna Maldonado and Lilianna Tapia and volleyball's Alexis Burton as Third Team All-Academic award winners.

A student-athlete must post a GPA over 3.6 and complete a minimum of 24 credit hours or have enough credits to graduate early or receive an academic full-time term enrollment exception during the school year to earn NJCAA All-Academic honors. First Team All-Academic recipients maintain 4.0 GPAs during the academic calendar. Second Team All-Academic honorees post GPAs between 3.80-3.99. Third Team All-Academic award winners record GPAs between 3.6-3.79.
