Martinez Signs with U. of Houston-Victoria

Cedar Valley College sophomore and recent graduate Cesar Martinez Jr., has signed a letter of intent to continue his collegiate baseball career at the University of Houston-Victoria this coming fall.

In his two seasons at CVC, Martinez served as both a starting and relief pitcher for the Suns in Metro Athletic Conference play. In 33 appearances and 74.1 innings played, he threw 59 strikeouts, registering a 5-5 record, with a 6.17 ERA.

"Cesar was a bulldog when he pitched! He was always ready to pitch in any situation to help the club. He didn't care if he had pitched a complete game the day before, if his team needed him, he wanted the Ball!" says CVC Head Baseball Coach Robert Dally.

Cesar finished 2016 as a MAC Honorable Mention at relief pitcher. He also earned his Associate of Arts degree, along with membership in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

The University of Houston-Victoria is a four year institution in Victoria, Texas that competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
