Suns Baseball Split at Angelina

The CVC Baseball Team faced the Angelina Roadrunners in doubleheader action on Friday afternoon, which resulted in both squads claiming victories.

The Suns locked up the first game of the series over the Roadrunners, 5-4, with Shannon Broussard earning the win with five strikeouts in six innings pitched. Skyler White was credited with the save.

Seven different CVC players notched a hit, with Johnny Rojo turning in a team high two RBIs. Alex Bush, Alex Garcia, Mason Gay, Jesus Payan, and J.J. Veloz Jr. all crossed the plate for CVC.

CVC would fall to AC in game two, 12-4. The Suns generated a 2-1 lead heading into the second inning, but a scoring drought would hurt Cedar Valley as Angelina rallied to a 9-2 lead after the fourth inning, en route to taking the win.

Veloz Jr. put two of CVC's runs on the board, with Payan turning in two hits and two RBIs.

The Suns will return home this Monday, where they will host Jarvis Christian College in their season home opener.
