Suns Baseball Completes Sweep of Mountain View

The CVC Baseball Team earned their first sweep of the season after defeating the Mountain View Lions in three games. The Suns followed up their game two and three victories after a tone setting complete-game shutout effort by Shannon Broussard in the Suns' game one, 2-0 win.

Game two between the Suns and Lions was a total rout, with Cedar Valley dominating Mountain View, 11-1. The Suns opened the scoring early putting up nine runs in the first two innings and never looked back. Alex Garcia went the full seven innings on the mound, tallying four strikeouts to earn the win.

Four Suns had at least two runs, with Alex Rivera registering a team-high three hits and three RBIs. Jesus Payan also notched three RBIs.

Game three was a closer affair between the two squads, as CVC rallied to seal a 10-8 win. After trailing 8-5 out of the fifth inning, the Suns went on to hold the Lions scoreless as they brought in five late-inning runs to seal the victory.

Jesus Payan and Alex Garcia both hit home runs for Cedar Valley. Payan finished the day with a team-high four hits and four RBIs. Jesse Mendoza crossed the plate three times.

Geovani Ceballos was awarded the win after five strikeouts in 4.2 innings played.

Cedar Valley returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Fort Worth for a doubleheader with Texas Wesleyan University (J.V.).
