Baseball Splits with Vernon in Season Opener

The CVC Suns Baseball Team earned their first win of the season when they split with the Vernon Chaps in their season-opening doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. 

In the first victory of the season, the Suns defeated the Chaps, 6-4. Chandler Boyd and Ben Cross each had two runs, while Billy Rogers notched three RBIs. Three different Suns had at least two hits (Rogers, Leo Aguilar, and Isaia Diermier). Noah Lynch (five strikeouts) earned the win from the mound and Ryan Foley registered a save (two strikeouts).

In game two, Cedar Valley was defeated by Vernon, 12-4. Rogers and Jose Castillo each had a team-high three hits and four different Suns crossed the plate (Blake Birdwell, Boyd, Diermier-Home Run, Rogers). Castillo also had a game-high two RBIs.

Next up, CVC returns to action on Monday against Hill.
