Billy Rogers and Jose Castillo named NJCAA Division III All-Americans

CVC Baseball's Billy Rogers and Jose Castillo were named to the NJCAA Division III All-American Team as announced by the NJCAA Division III Baseball Committee. Rogers earned 1st Team honors as an outfielder and Castillo was selected to the 2nd Team at designated hitter.

Billy Rogers - Along with being named to the NJCAA DIII All-American 1st Team, Rogers was also chosen as Dallas Athletic Conference Hitter of the Year and was selected to the All-DAC/NJCAA Region V 1st Team. The sophomore registered a .488 batting average (3rd NJCAA), .557 on-base percentage (10th NJCAA), .714 slugging percentage and posted totals of 99 hits (1st NJCAA), 64 runs (6th NJCAA), 63 RBIs (7th NJCAA), 23 doubles (3rd NJCAA), and five home runs during the spring of 2019.

Jose Castillo - This past season, freshman Castillo logged 88 hits (3rd NJCAA), 72 RBIs (3rd NJCAA), 57 runs, 27 doubles (1st NJCAA), and six home runs on his way to being named to the NJCAA DIII All-American 2nd Team. The Dallas native slugger notched hitting statistics of .429 batting average, .494 on-base percentage, .659 slugging percentage and was also chosen to the All-DAC/NJCAA Region V 1st Team.

"I am thrilled for Billy and Jose to have received this prestigious recognition," says Senior Head Baseball Coach Robert Dally. "They put some work in this year both on and off the field. Most importantly, they both are humble and understand that baseball like many other sports is all about the team. Their success was directly dependent upon their teammates. It was a privilege to have coached these two young men and our team this year."

The Suns Baseball Team have now had back-to-back years with an NJCAA All-Americans with Daniel Quintanilla earning the distinction in 2018.
