Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team is set to open the season Friday at Dallas Christian College. 

The Suns' original season openers have been canceled or posponed due to inclement weather.

Cedar Valley, under the direction of 16-year head coach Robert Dally, went 29-25 last season, advancing to the first round of the postseason district tournament.

Sophomore outfielder Antonio Sabala batted .445 with 18 doubles, seven triples, three home runs, 31 runs batted in and 14 stolen bases last season, earning National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Third Team All-America honors.

Sophomore infielder Ryan Talley hit .398 with six doubles, a triple, 24 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Sophomore catcher Elian Gonzales batted .366 with nine doubles, a triple, 31 RBI and three stolen bases. Sophomore outfielder Carson Mills hit .333 with six doubles, a home run, 18 RBI and four stolen bases.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Landon Kinder went 2-2 with one save and 29 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched. Fellow sophomore righty Jaxon Simmons appeared in two games on the mound, striking out nine batters in six innings.

The Suns open Dallas Athletic Conference play Feb. 22 at Dallas College North Lake.
