Cedar Valley Coasts by North Lake in League Opener

Dallas College Cedar Valley pitcher Caleb Pacheco improved to 3-0 this year after the Suns' 10-3 win at Dallas College North Lake Thursday in the conference opener.

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team beat Dallas College North Lake, 10-3, Thursday in the Dallas Athletic Conference opener.

The game was pushed back from Wednesday due to rain. The Suns (6-3, 1-0 DAC) are scheduled to host the Blazers (5-10, 0-1) in the final two games of the series Friday and Saturday at noon.

Cedar Valley scored four runs in both the second and third innings to jump out to an 8-1 lead. North Lake picked up one in the bottom of the third to trim the gap to six runs. But the Suns added a pair of runs in the seventh, and closer Landon Kinder held the Blazers to a run, while scattering four hits over the final three innings to close the door.

Starter Caleb Pacheco improved to 3-0 after striking out a season-high eight batters and allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings. Kinder earned his first save of the season.

First baseman Blaine Thomas went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Right fielder Caden Robertson was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and season-high four RBI. Second baseman Ryan Talley went 2-for-3, and drove in three runs. Center fielder Antonio Sabala had two hits and a walk in four trips to the plate. Catcher Elian Gonzales doubled, third baseman Jayden Ramos had a base hit and a walk, and shortstop Cooper Brewer singled, and drove in a run.

The Suns outhit the Blazers, 12-8.

Robertson's homer was his third of the year. Talley has driven in three runs in both of Cedar Valley's last two wins. Thomas has had three hits in three of the four games he's played.

The Suns improved to 3-0 on the road.
