Cedar Valley Coasts into Homestand with Big Wins

LANCASTER, Texas – It's time for some home cooking.

Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team will enter the week ahead with a 2-1 record, following two monster wins over Dallas Christian College's Prospect Team Wednesday. The Suns swept a doubleheader 13-1 and 25-1.

Cedar Valley (2-1) is scheduled to host Hesston College in a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday beginning at noon both days. The following weekend, the Suns host Redlands Community College in a pair of twin bills, also beginning at noon. The eight-game homestand is Cedar Valley's longest of the season.

In the Suns' first win of the season, the 13-1 victory over Dallas Christian, four different hitters collected multiple hits. Jordan Anguiano went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in. Hayden Carpenter was one of three with two hits – one coming on the long ball.  

Keller Thompson (1-1) started Cedar Valley's first two games of the season, recording a victory in his second stint – the 12-run win over Dallas Christian. He has 10 strikeouts this season.

In the second game of the sweep of the Crusaders, the Suns pounded 19 hits. Zachary Mikes and Homar Barrera-Lopez each had three hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs. Aiden Hatton had three hits, including a pair of doubles, Jacob Cueva, Zach Spurr, Lane Atherton and Anguiano all drove in two runs. Barrera-Lopez belted two home runs.

In the first three games, Cedar Valley crushed six home runs, while not surrendering one.

Cedar Valley, which is coming off a program-best 38 victories last season, has outscored its first three opponents, 47-15. The Suns have produced 12 extra base hits – six doubles and six home runs.
