LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's baseball team split a pair of doubleheaders with Redlands Community College Friday and Saturday.

Cedar Valley (7-4) went 5-3 in its two-week, eight-game homestand.

Homar Barrea-Lopez drove in five runs in the 18-17 slugfest. The freshman outfielder from Corpus Christi, Texas, crushed a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Suns a 17-14 lead. After Redlands (4-15) scored three runs in the seventh to tie it, Barrea-Lopez had a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to win it.

In Saturday's first game, Cedar Valley scored seven runs in its final two at-bats to overcome a 5-3 hole to win.

Lane Atherton went 3-for-3 with two triples and two RBI. Carpenter was 3-for-4 with a home run, double and five RBI. Jacob Cueva was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Aiden Hatton had a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, walked and stole a base. Johnson was 1-for-4.

Redlands outhit Cedar Valley, 12-10.

Kyler Baker improved to 2-0 on the mound after giving up five runs on 10 hits and no walks. Hatton picked up his second save after the Cougars scored in the top of the seventh, leaving him in a bases-full jam scenario. But Hatton needed to face only two batters to preserve the win.
