Garcia Highlighted as NJCAA DIII Pitcher of Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Johnny Garcia was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Pitcher of the Week.

A freshman right-hander from Fort Worth, Texas, Garcia twirled a two-hit shutout in his college debut to beat Hesston College, 11-0, in five innings, capping the Suns' home-opening weekend. Garcia struck out six batters, and didn't allow a walk in a shut-down performance to complete a 3-1 weekend for Cedar Valley.

Garcia (1-0) and the Suns (3-2) will host Redlands Community College (8-3) in a four-game series beginning noon Friday.
