Chandler Named National Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Cedar Valley's David Chandler was chosen as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Player of the Week.
A sophomore second baseman/designated hitter from New Braunfels, Texas, Chandler collected six hits in eight at-bats for a .750 average, three doubles, three stolen bases and three RBI as the Suns went 3-1 last week to take the home-opening weekend series from Hesston College. Chandler had an .800 on-base percentage and 1.125 slugging percentage in bumping his average to .600 for the early part of the season. He had two doubles and a pair of RBI as a designated hitter after rapping four hits as a second baseman, while playing in three of the four games during the weekend series.
The Suns (3-2) will host Redlands Community College (8-3) in a four-game series beginning noon Friday.
