Nguyen Knocks Out Two-Time Champ in FC 24 Playoffs

DALLAS – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Khoi Nguyen beat two-time National Junior College Athletic Association eSports FIFA champion Zaid Gutierrez, 3-2, in a first FC 24 playoff series Tuesday.

Nguyen, "Midas800," will advance to the super regional finals.

Gutierrez won the last two Tier I FIFA national championships – his first while competing for Dallas College Mountain View last spring before claiming the title as a Blazer in the fall. Nguyen was the fall sports Tier III FIFA champion.

Nguyen's next match is 7 p.m. Monday against Northwest College.

Breanna Smith won her Madden 24 first round playoff series against Louisberg College, 2-0, Wednesday. KidxBree advances to the second round of the Spring Super Regional to meet Northwestern Michigan College next Wednesday.

Demarree Poindexter won his Madden 24 playoff series, 2-0, over Barton Community College. KB24 will advance to the second round of the super regional to meet North Dakota State College of Science next Wednesday.
