Freeman Named DAC Player of Week as Suns Win 3rd Straight

Dallas College Cedar Valley's Antonio Freeman has been selected as the Dallas Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week.

A freshman swingman from Houston, Freeman averaged 18.1 points, three rebounds and three assists as the Suns won three games last week. He shot 20 of 27 from the floor, and was 8 of 9 from three-point range, finishing with 55 points in Cedar Valley's impressive week to move within a game of .500 this season.

Freeman scored 19 points, had four steals, two assists and two rebounds in a 94-86 win over National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Arkansas Cossatot. He was 8 of 10 from the floor in that game. He had 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting, including 3-for-3 from long distance, in a 94-70 victory over Creating Young Minds. Freeman also had five assists, four rebounds and a steal in that win. He had 16 points on 5 of 8 shooting, while making both triple tries and all four of his free throw attempts in an 85-81 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University Junior Varsity. He had three steals, three rebounds and two assists in that win.

Freeman is averaging 9.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range this season.

The Suns (8-9) will play at Paul Quinn College Junior Varsity 6:30 p.m. Tuesday before opening DAC action 1 p.m. Saturday at Dallas College Eastfield.
