Men's Soccer Opens Season with 5-2 Victory

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley men's soccer team beat Arlington Baptist University, 5-2, in the season opener Saturday.

Moustapha Kamate recorded a hat trick in his first college game, scoring two minutes into the contest for the Suns' first goal of the season. Kamate struck first on an assist from Mauricio Gutierrez.

Arlington Baptist responded with goals in the 10th and 28th minutes to take a one-goal lead. In the final minute of the first half, Gutierrez scored the equalizer on an assist from Adrian Beltran.

Three minutes into the second half, Kamate scored the go-ahead goal on a setup from Sergio Molina. Kamate completed the hat trick in the 60th minute when he converted a pass from Beltran to make it 4-2.

Reily Torres added an insurance goal five minutes later on an assist from Daniel Fuentes.

Suns goalkeeper Hector Perales made four saves in 85 minutes between the posts. Joel Aldama spelled him for five minutes.

The Suns put eight of their 12 shots on goal. The Patriots had six shots on goal.

Cedar Valley will host Southwestern Adventist University 5 p.m. Wednesday.
