Cedar Valley Shuts Out Southwestern Adventist

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley men's soccer team shut out Southwestern Adventist University, 3-0, Wednesday.

It was the first shutout of the season for the Suns, who opened the season with back-to-back wins for the second time in three years under head coach Nasko Arsov.

The Suns (2-0-0) scored all three goals in the second half. Sergio Molina had two goals, and Mauricio Gutierrez added the other.

Molina gave Cedar Valley a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the second half when he buried a ball in the back of the net on a pass from Marc Wilson. Molina scored again 30 minutes later on an assist from Elias Prieto.

Gutierrez added an insurance goal in the 84th minute on a setup from Dylan Placino.

Molina and Gutierrez both began their careers at Cedar Valley in 2022 before sitting out last year. They each have five points this season.

Cedar Valley goalkeeper Hector Perales made four saves in the shutout.

The Suns attempted 18 shots.

Cedar Valley plays at Arlington Baptist University 5 p.m. Tuesday.
