Men's Soccer Lands Four on First Team All-DAC, Four on Second Team
DALLAS – Dallas College Cedar Valley men's soccer's Marc Wilson, Mauricio Gutierrez, Elias Prieto and Sergio Molina all earned First Team All-Dallas Athletic Conference honors.
Suns teammates Adrian Beltran, Reily Torres, Raul Ortiz and Rajiv Benitez were Second Team All-DAC selections.
A sophomore defender from Rowlett, Texas, Wilson played a role on the back line in the Suns' two shutouts. He scored a goal in a 1-1 tie at Dallas College Mountain View, and had an assist in a shutout win over Southwestern Adventist University.
Gutierrez, a sophomore midfielder from Dallas, had four goals and three assists for 11 points to lead the Suns. He scored in each of the first three games – all wins for Cedar Valley, and also picked up an assist in the season-opening win over Arlington Baptist University. He had an assist in the 1-1 draw at home with Mountain View.
A sophomore midfielder from Rowlett, Prieto scored two goals and had an assist for five points. He scored in the Suns' goal in the tie with Mountain View at home. He also scored in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South District semifinal against Mountain View. Prieto's assist came in the win over Southwestern Adventist.
A sophomore forward from Dallas, Molina had two goals and two assists for six points. He scored the gamewinning goal in the win over Southwestern Adventist University. In that win, he scored back-to-back goals for the first multi-goal game of his career. Molina's assists came in the season-opening win Arlington Baptist and the tie at Mountain View.
A freshman defender from Duncanville, Texas, Beltran also played a role in the Suns' two clean sheets over Southwestern Adventist and at Arlington Baptist. He finished the season with five assists, picking up two in each of the wins over ABU. Beltran also had an assist at Nelson University.
A sophomore defender from Garland, Texas, Torres also contributed to the two shutouts. He scored two goals, including a game winner, for four points. He had a goal in the season-opening victory and another in the home win over Nelson. Torres' goal in the 2-1 win over Nelson was the game winner.
Ortiz, a sophomore defender from Dallas, was a mainstay on the back line that produced the two shutouts. He started 10 of the 11 games he appeared in.
A sophomore midfielder from Guerrero, Mexico, Benitez started in all 10 games he appeared in. He helped the Suns record the two shutouts.
