Yeldell, Brumley Named First Team All-DAC, Suns Earn 7 Honors

Dallas College Cedar Valley's Shandrea Yeldell was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Year, while teammate Tiffani Hamm was voted the league's Most Improved Player.
Yeldell and Nakia Brumley earned First Team All-DAC honors, while Sierra Headquist and Hamm were Second Team selections. Kate Valle earned Honorable Mention All-DAC honors.
A freshman point guard from Dallas, Yeldell averaged 17.3 points, 4.2 assists and 3.6 steals per game, while shooting 52.7 percent from the floor. She scored in double figures in 17 games, and had a season-high 33 in a win over Dallas College Richland. She scored 32 points against National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Arkansas-Cossatot Jan. 10. Yeldell had 20 or more points in seven games.
A sophomore guard from Dallas, Brumley averaged 15.2 points, 4.7 assists and 3.2 steals, and shot 43.2 percent. She scored in double figures in 17 games, with a season-high 28 on the second of back-to-back nights against Southwestern Assemblies of God University Junior Varsity Feb. 7. Brumley scored over 20 points in six games.
A sophomore center from Plano, Headquist averaged 13.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.1 blocks, and had a 54.1 percent field goal shooting percentage. She had double figures in scoring in 16 games, including a season-high 22 in a win over Richland. Headquist recorded six double-doubles, and pulled down a season-high 13 boards in three games.
A freshman guard from Denton, Texas, Hamm averaged 6.8 points and 5.7 rebounds, while shooting 42 percent. She reached double figures in four games, scoring a season-best 19 points in a Dec. 10 win at Southwestern Adventist University.
A freshman guard from Frisco, Texas, Valle averaged 9.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals, and shot 42.4 percent. She scored in double figures in nine games, with a season-high 23 in the first win of the back-to-back over Southwestern Assemblies of God JV Feb. 6. Valle had a season-high 10 rebounds at Dallas College Mountain View Feb. 16.
Cedar Valley went 15-5 overall, 3-1 in the DAC for a share of the regular season title. The Suns finished the regular season ranked No. 11 in the NJCAA Division III poll, and advanced to the South Central District title game.
