Hayden Named DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Carmela Hayden was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 5-foot-6 sophomore guard from Dallas, Hayden scored 25 points, had four rebounds, two assists and a steal in a 65-58 win over National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Jacksonville College. Hayden shot 6 of 15 from the floor and 12 of 16 from the free throw line.

This is the second time this season Hayden has won the award. She is averaging 15 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting just under 40 percent from the field and three-point territory.

Ranked No. 9 in the NJCAA Division III poll, Cedar Valley (8-5) will return to the court Jan. 6 at NJCAA Division II Arkansas-Cossatot.
