Nwabufo Named DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Vivian Nwabufo was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 5-foot-11 freshman forward from Arlington, Texas, Nwabufo averaged 9.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as No. 8 nationally-ranked Cedar Valley won both of its games last week. She also had three steals, and blocked two shots.

Nwabufo recorded season highs of 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 65-57 win over East Texas Baptist University, which suited up five of its NCAA Division III varsity players in the game. It was her first double-double of the season, and it marked the first time she scored in double figures in a Suns uniform. In an 89-64 road win over National Junior College Athletic Association No. 12 Dallas College Mountain View, she had six points on 3 of 5 shooting, pulled down eight rebounds, and had two steals and a block.

Nwabufo has started the last three games, averaging 9.3 rebounds per game during that stretch.

Cedar Valley (11-5, 1-0 DAC) will host Dallas College Richland (3-9, 0-1) at 6 p.m. Thursday.
