McDonald Picked as DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Cedar Valley's Cyncere McDonald was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 5-foot-5 freshman point guard from Waco, Texas, McDonald averaged 25.5 points on 16 of 36 shooting, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and a steal in a pair of wins for the No. 8-ranked Suns. She was 18-for-24 from the free throw line. She had 24 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals, while knocking down 7 of 15 field goals and 9 of 12 free throws in a win over No. 13 Dallas College Mountain View. McDonald had a season-high 27 points, while going 9 of 21 from the field and 9-for-12 from the free throw line in a win over East Texas Baptist University Junior Varsity earlier in the week.

McDonald is averaging 13.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Suns, who take a 9-9 record into Tuesday's 5 p.m. nonconference game against Nelson University at Cedar Valley. It is the first of four straight home games as the regular season winds down. Cedar Valley hosts Dallas College Richland Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. in a game that could decide the DAC regular season title.
