McDonald Claims National Player of Week Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Cedar Valley point guard Cyncere McDonald was named the National Junior College Athletic Conference Division III Player of the Week.
A freshman from Waco, Texas, McDonald had games of 24 and a season-high 27 points in wins over No. 13 Dallas College Mountain View and East Texas Baptist University Junior Varsity, respectively last week, while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. She averaged 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal in the two wins for the No. 8-ranked Suns.
McDonald hit 7 of 15 field goals and 9 of 12 free throws in the victory over Mountain View. She was 9 of 21 from the floor, and matched her free throw line performance in the triumph over ETBU.
Cedar Valley (9-9) will host Arlington Baptist University Junior Varsity 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The Suns host Dallas College Richland Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. for a shot at the Dallas Athletic Conference regular season championship.
The NJCAA Division III Central District Tournament is set for Feb. 28-March 1.
