CVC Athletes Speak at NCCHC Leadership Symposium

Cedar Valley Athletes, David Maldonado and Tiffany Obregon  participated in the National Community College Hispanic Council (NCCHC), 2015 Leadership Symposium in Ft. Worth, TX. NCCHC is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). David competes for the Cedar Valley Suns Baseball team and Tiffany competes on the Cedar Valley Lady Suns Soccer team.

This year's meeting was hosted by the Tarrant County Community College District and brought together Hispanic leaders from the nation's community colleges.  The leadership symposium provides opportunities to learn about high impact community college practices designed specifically for Hispanics.

Maldonado and Obregon spoke on the "Student Voices: The Latino/a Community College Student Athlete" panel in which they discussed the factors that had led to their persistence and what role Cedar Valley played in their development.  All that attended gave a favorable evaluation of the session and were impressed with the first-hand experience as expressed by the student-athletes.
