Garcia, Higgs, Martinez, Reyes Earn All-MAC/Region V Team Selections
The CVC Lady Suns Soccer Team had eight players earn All-Metro Athletic Conference/Region V honors as announced by the conference office. Sophomore Daniela Garcia was named to the First Team, while Ardazal Higgs, Heidi Martinez, and Victoria Reyes claimed Second Team honors. Hayley Drasny, Mia Gauna, Juana Gonzalez, and Stephany Gonzalez were selected as Honorable Mentions.
This is the second straight season, Daniela Garcia has been named to the All-MAC Team due to her stellar defense. Garcia has not missed a game in her entire career for the Lady Suns and this season she helped CVC to two shutout wins.
In her first season with the Lady Suns, Ardazal Higgs led CVC in goals scored with nine, a shot percentage of .429%, and registered 21 points. Higgs had two multiple goal games during the season, including a hat trick against Southwestern Adventist University.
Second-year starter, Heidi Martinez shined for the Lady Suns in the midfield for the second straight season. The NJCAA All-Academic selection finished the season with one goal and two points, Martinez scored her goal against Eastfield College.
Starting 14 of 17 games in her first season, Victoria Reyes was second on the Lady Suns in assists with six and tied for fourth in goals scored with two. Reyes finished the season with a .706% shot percentage and 10 points.
Freshman Mia Gauna was second on the CVC squad in goals scored with six and registered a shot percentage of .261%. Gauna notched 17 points during the season and added five assists. She completed a hat trick earlier this season against Southwestern Adventist University.
Hayley Drasny competed and started in every game for CVC including both shutouts handed out by the Lady Suns, while second-year Lady Sun, Juana Gonzalez earned honors as well in the midfield.
Freshman Stephany Gonzalez led CVC with seven assists and scored two goals during the season.
