Strong Returning Core Will Power Lady Suns Soccer in 2018

Strong Returning Core Will Power Lady Suns Soccer in 2018
Going into the 2018 season, the Lady Suns Soccer Team will return a strong core that includes All-Metro Athletic Conference (now Dallas Athletic Conference)/Region V selections Ardazal Higgs, Victoria Reyes, Mia Gauna and Hayley Drasny.

The Lady Suns had strong offensive showings in 2017 that ended with them posting 25 goals. Higgs (nine goals), Gauna (six goals), Reyes (two goals), and Madison Houle (five goals) are the quartet of top scorers coming back for CVC.

"I'm looking for a lot of goals to be scored with Ardazal, Mia, and Madison returning this season," said Senior Head Coach, Nasko Arsov. " We have experience across the board and I expect our upperclassmen to take charge, especially with Hayley leading our defense."

Also bringing game experience to this year's squad are sophomores Angelica Govea and Madelyn Guigneaux.

First-year players expected to make contributions this season include Nyla Delapaz, Kimberly Kitsao, Amairany Marquez, Angeles Moreno, and Joseline Pita.

The trio of Higgs, Houle, and Gauna was dangerous for opposing teams last year, with each having multiple-goal games including Higgs and Gauna each recording a hat trick. After a fifth-place finish in the MAC standings last season, the Lady Suns are eager to make a postseason push come October.

CVC begins their 2018 campaign on Thursday, August 23 when they host Seminole State.
