Puente Headlines Suns All-DAC Quintet

Dallas College Cedar Valley women's soccer player Briana Puente was chosen as a First Team All-Dallas Athletic Conference selection.

Khilyssa White and Makayla Mohair were picked as Second Team All-DAC recipients, and Eva Zamudio and Esther Martinez earned Honorable Mention All-DAC honors.

Puente, a freshman forward from Hot Springs, Arkansas, had a team-leading 10 goals and four assists for 24 points. She scored two gamewinning goals, while starting in 18 games as Cedar Valley advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Mid-South District semifinals in a year the Suns won their first game in four years and first postseason game in 13 years.

White, a freshman forward from Portland, Texas, had four goals and four assists for 12 points. She scored the gamewinning goal in the season-opening 3-2 victory over Trinity Valley Community College on Aug. 24.

Mohair, a freshman forward from Denton, Texas, had three goals and four assists for 10 points. She scored the gamewinning goal in a 9-0 shutout of Southwestern Adventist on Sept. 13.

Zamudio, a freshman forward from Huntsville, Texas, had three goals and two assists for eight points. She had the clinching goal in the postseason win over Dallas College Eastfield.

Martinez, a freshman defender from Baytown, Texas, was part of a defense that posted three shutouts, including the 2-0 victory over Eastfield in the Mid-South quarterfinals.

Cedar Valley went 5-12-1 overall, 3-8 in the DAC under first-year head coach John Antonisse.
