Suns Shut Out Trinity Valley in Season Opener

ATHENS, Texas – Cedar Valley women's soccer team opened the season with a 4-0 win at Trinity Valley Community College.

It was the second straight year the Suns beat Trinity Valley in the season opener.

Cedar Valley scored all four goals in the second half to break open a scoreless game at the half. Makayla Mohair deposited the first goal on an assist from Briana Puente. That was all the Suns needed.

Victoria Hernandez scored on an assist from Shakira Williams. Izabel Lopez cashed in on a setup from Mohair. Puente added a goal on an assist from Layla Matthews.

Lawson McConnell made four saves in the first half, and Princess Morales stopped two shots in the second half to combine for the shutout.

Cedar Valley will host Arlington Baptist University 6 p.m. Tuesday in the home opener.
