Cedar Valley Receiving Votes in NJCAA DIII Rankings for First Time Since 2005

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Cedar Valley women's soccer team is receiving votes in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings.

It is the first time Cedar Valley has received votes in the national poll since 2005.

The Suns (2-0) sit 11th in the country in the national rankings, following the first week of the season. Cedar Valley is just behind No. 10 Jefferson Community College (N.Y.) in the rankings. Dallas Athletic Conference members Dallas College Brookhaven is No. 1, while Dallas College Richland is No. 5.

Cedar Valley outscored its first two opponents, 13-1, with back-to-back wins over Trinity Valley Community College and Arlington Baptist University.

Victoria Hernandez and Shakira Williams lead the Suns with six points apiece, while Makayla Mohair and Briana Puente have five. Hernandez has three goals, while Williams, Mohair, Tenilee Anthony and Lilianna Tapia each have two.

Princess Morales is 2-0 with a 1.00 goals against average between the posts.

Cedar Valley will begin a four-game homestand 11 a.m. Saturday when Garden City Community College (Kan.) visits Lancaster.
